Kevin C. Clark co-founded Cross Country Healthcare in 1986 after observing the need to modernize healthcare staffing through innovation while meeting the needs of customers and their patients. Clark subsequently sold the business, but returned in January 2019 as president and CEO to effect a turnaround. In 2021, Cross Country, now the seventh-largest healthcare staffing firm in the US, expanded its reach by acquiring Workforce Solutions Group, a provider of clinicians for elder care to low-income communities. Clark also oversaw the acquisition of Selected, a SaaS-based subscription tech platform. Cross Country Healthcare announced in January that Clark will transition to the role of chairman in April 2022.
