James A. Essey is president and CEO of The TemPositions Group of Companies. Founded in 1962, the New York-based firm has put more than 100,000 people to work. Essey joined the company in 1985. In 2004, he was elected as chairman of the American Staffing Association and presently serves as chairman of the ASA’s legal/legislative committee. Essey frequently speaks on legal subjects concerning staffing firms, including the Affordable Care Act, and he was among those spearheading the cost calculator for staffing firms. He also served on The Joint Commission task force to create standards for healthcare staffing certification in 2004.
